A programme of Nigger ALinistrol songs will be presented at 2YA. This will >be built up on a lecture recital by Mrs Daisy Basham, entitled “Original Jubilee 'Singers.” The Melodic Four, in addition to singing the numbers illustrating the lecture recital, will pro. vide the rest of the vocal programme. Mrs M. Kenny, with Mr J. Jackson, will be heard in a group of banjo duets. Mi- M. T. Dixon, conducting the Salon Orchestra, will supply the incidental music.
Popular songs at the piano by the Rose and Thistle Duo, light music by the Studio Octet under Mr Beck, humour from Mr J. J. Flewellen, popular baritone solos by Mr Leslie Stewart and popular airs as played by Miss Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian Quartet, with vocal refrains by Miss Moody, will constitute 3VA’s vaudeville programme. At 4 YA, the Kenz Orpheans, will present a programme entitled “ Modern Transcriptions of the Classics.’ There will b e much novelty and variety in this programme. Many popular vocal numbers will be beard, among them being: “Mother Machioe, “Sons of the Sea,” “Where My Caravan Has Rested,” “ The Sign Post,’’ “By the Waters of “Come Into the Garden Maud,” “ Maire My Girl,” “ Until,” “In An Old Fashioned Town,” and “ A sleep in the Deep.” The singers will be: M'« s P Marshall, Miss E. B. Clarke, Mr W. Harrison and Mr R. W. Fox. Instrumental solos will also he contributed l,v members of the Kenz Orpheans.
MONDAY, JANUARY 19th
2YA has a special attraction for this evening. A radio version ol R. I J • Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” will be presented. It is a tale of pirates and their buried treasure. The cast includes some of Wellington s loading artists and under the skilful direction of Mr J- F. Montague, of Auckland, the radio presentation should prove most thrilling and enjoyable. Continuing the series ol open ail concerts arranged by the Broadcasting Company for the summer months, the AVoolston Band under Mr It. J. Estall, will provide this evening’s programme. 3YA artists will assist.
The Novelty Syiicopaters, playing popular melodies, will be featured on 4YA’s programme. Air J. AJcCaw (saxophone) ‘and Air J. Mills (cornet), both members of the hand, will contribute items. Aliss Lottie do Clifford will sing three .soprano solos. Aliss Betty Hamilton will present contralto song’s, Air J. E. Davies tenor songs and Mr N. C. Gamble, baritone solos.
