DISTRICT RACING COMMITTEE

■ j The Distrcit Committee of the Greymouth Jockey Club met yesterday afternoon at Greymout. Present:— Messrs T. E. Coates (chairman), H. J. Bignell, A. Beban, D. J. Evans, W. H. Parfitt, and the secretary, Mr M. JFogarty. The Westland Racing Club’s programme for the autumn meeting was submitted and approved. The meeting will be held on April 8, and the programme is as follows: —Trial Race of £7O, furlongs; Rimu Hack of £7O, 6 furlongs; Express Handicap Trot (saddle), £75, 1 mile; Autumn Handicap, of £l2O, 1J miles; President’s Handicap, of £BO, 5j furlongs; High Weight Handicap of £7O, 7 furlongs; Dominion Handicap Trot (harness),. £75, 11 miles; Final Handicap of, £BO, 6 furlongs . Reports from the Stipendiary Steward at the recent meetings held in the district, were received and approved. J. J. Corry, Blenheim, was lined £5 for failing to notify the secretary of the Reefton Jockey Club that he held an interest in two horses Our Rose and Landmark, competing in the one race, and as a result of such negligence; were not bracketed on the totalise tor. Advice was received from the Nelson Jockey Club that the Nelson Trotting Club had applied for permission to hold one of its permits on Friday, May 1, and the Nelosn Jockey Club had r‘ agreed to ask permission to alter its dates from Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, to Thursday and Saturday, April 30, and May 2. As the Marlborough Racing and Trotting Clubs follow on the corresponding days of the next week, it would make a six days’ circuit for owners.—The application was approved.
