“GEY PAWKY AND SOLID”

TESTIMONIAL TO MR FORBES. LONDON, December 1. A New Zealander writes from Auld Reekie that she was present at the civic ceremonies by which Mr Forbes was made a Freeman of Edinburgh. The New Zealander was tremendously amused' and genuinely pleased when a Scot sitting nearby, realising that she was from the Dominion, said: “I like your man the best of the three. He is gey pawgy and solid.” The New Zealander says she could not reproduce the broad Scotch in which this unsolicited testimonial was given, but there was no doubt of its sincerity.
