FRTDAY, JANUARY 16th

Barry Ingall’s Hawaiian Quartet will increase their popularity with 1 YA listeners tliie evening, as also will Miss Edna Langmuir, F.T.C.L., who will .sing and play several of the latest hits.

The Asquiths will once again be heard in a Twenty Minute Drawing Room Entertainment, and Miss Martha Williamson (contralto) and Mr Peter Black (baritone) will sing several 'ballads. A Topical Talk will he given by /Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A. A variety programme of very high standard has been arranged for 2YA. The outstanding feature will he the presentation of elocutionary numbers by Mr J. F. Montague, of Auckland. Miss Flora MacKenzie (soprano) will sing four songs. Mr Harry Mitchell (baritone) recently arrived from England, will be heard in “Glorious Devon,” “Drake Goes West,” “Passing By.” Mrs R. M. Cummins will sing a number of songs with ukulele accompnaiment.

Mezzo-floprano. solos by Mrs Grace Empson, mezzo-contralto solos from Mrs Sen Jowett, tenor songs by Mr D. Suckling, humor from Mr G. Tit ehener, selections by the Studio Octet under Mr H. 'G. G lay-slier (deputy conductor) and banjolin items by Air Stan Birch, will comprise 3YA’s concert programme.

Vocal refrains will be introduced into a number of the contributions by an instrumental' quintet at 4YA. The singer will be Miss Rita Holmes. Other vocalists for the evening will be Miss Olga Wynne (soprano), Miss Trene Horniblow (contralto), Mr .1. BHamilton (tenor), and Air R. B. Mac Donald (bass), with a variety of elocutionary items from Aliss N. Buswbll. Among the songs will lie.—“ When the House is Asleep,” “Song of the Rover.’’ “Has Sorrow Thv Young Days Shaded,” “Love’s A'oung Dream,” “The Afinstrel Boy,” “Sally in Our All.°y” and “Keep on Hopin, ” Scottish humour will be dispersed by Mr James A. Paterson.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17th

The IYA Orchestral Octet, Aliss Edith Whittaker (a young soprano!, and Air Stan Pritchard (baritone) will contribute to this evening’s entertainment. Ernest and AVendy Luks will be heard in “ Merry Moments- at the Piano,” and a new artist, Air C. C. | Purdy* an excellent siffletir, will give ' several numbers. A programme of Nigger Alinistrol songs will be presented at 2YA. This will be built up on a lecture recital by Airs Daisy Basham, entitled “Original Jubilee Singers.” The- Melodic Four, in addiuon to singing the numbers illustrating the lecture recital, will provide the rest of the vocal programme. Mrs M. Kenny, with Air J. Jackson, will be heard in a group of banjo duets. Mr AI. T. Dixon, conducting the Salon Orchestra, will supply the incidental music.

Popular songs at the piano by the Rose and Thistle Duo, light mimic by the Studio Octet under Mr Beck, humour from Mr J. J. Flewellen, popular baritone solos by Mr Leslie Stewart and popular airs as played by Miss Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian Quartet, wi/th 'vocal refrains by Miss Moody, will constitute 3YA’s vaudeville programme. At 4 YA, the Renz Orpheans, will present a programme entitled “Modern Transcriptions ol the Classics.’ There will be much novelty and variety in this programme. Many popular vocal numbers will be heard, among them being: “Mother Machree,” “Sons of the Sea/’ “Where My Caravan Has Rested/’ “ The Sign Post.” “By the Waters of Minnetonka,” “Come Into the Garden Maud,” “ Maire My Girl,” “ Until,” “ In An Old Fashioned Town,” and “ Asleep in the Deep.” The singers will be; Mms P. Marshall, Miss E. B. Clarke, Air W. Harrison and Mr 11. W.« Fox. Instrumental solos will also l>e contributed by members of the Kenz Orpheans.
