BRITISH NAVY

A CRITICS CRITICISM. I United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 15. According to Hector Bywater, the “Daily Telegraph” naval editor, unless the forthcoming navy estimates provide for the early construction of at least six cruisers, two flotillas of destroyers, and twelve submarines, our Navy three years hence will be below the standard strength postulated in the London Treaty, while by the date of the next Limitation Conference it will consist mainly of obsoletes, useless for bargaining purposes. He adds that it looks as though the ’Government are determined to leave their successors a thankless task ,of introducing a large, expensive ship-building programme.
