WHAT’S A CAPITALIST
A PRESS OPINION. [United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (Received 8.40 a..m) LONDON, January 14. Discussing “What's a Capitalist” the “Times” expresses the opinion that Socialists are turning from the principle of ti'anslHronee of capital from private hands to the State. They have been or are in power in several countries, and in others share the responsibility of the Government, yet nowhere outside Russia has there been any attempt at such a transfer. Even Russia lots the small capitalist alone. Socialists had better admit a change of aim. They are endeavouring to lessen the gaj) between rich and poor by social reforms. The aim may he good, but the process if carried too far do feats itself through the excessive taxation required to pay for it.
