Five machine-guns in cases were picked up in the vicinity of the wreck. T'he Tricolour agents deny that the vessel carried explosives.

(Tleceived this day at 8 a.m.) HONGKONG, January 9. The dollar opened at llfd and dropped four times dining the day, closing at lljcl. Commercial circles state there is a financial panic and Chinese arc heavily gambling. The local outlook is extremely hazardous and a crisis is expected.
FRENCH GENERAL HAS LEG AMPUTATED.
PARIS, Jan. 8. General Bethelot is gravely ill. His leg has been amputated at the thigh.
