FRIDAY, JANUARY 9th
At IYA this evening Mr A. G. MePliail, baritone, ifs singing. The versatile Snappy Three will include some of the latest hits in their numbers]’'■and Miss Kathleen Morrison, '’mezzosoprano will sing ballads. That popular combination, the Salon Trio, will contribute trios, piano solos, vocal solos with violin obligato, ’cello solos and violin solos. At 2YA the Orehestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda. will play the “ Potted Overture ” by Engleman, “ Robin Hood,” “The Letuv,” “ Christmas Bells,” “ One Alone ” and “ Tout Paris.” Mr Lawrence Searle will be heard in humourous elocutionary items. The vocalists for the evening will be Miss Myra Sawyer and Mr Wm. Bonrdmnn in solos and duets, Mr Stewart Nelson (tenor) and Miss Muriel Johns in a number of up-to-date popular songs at the 1 piano. The vocal programme from 3YA will be a very popular one. The quartets are old favourites; “Hail Caledonia,” “ John Peel,” “On the Banks of Allan Water,” and “ Tn this Hour of Softened Splendour.” Among the solos will be: “ When Other Lips,” “ Because,” “ Early in the Morning,” “ Friend of Mine,” “The Garden of Your Heart.” and “Tn an Old Fashioned Town.” Humourous numbers will be given hv Mr L. T. J. Ryan. The Studio Octet will play among other numbers the overture to the “ Bohemian Girl,” a selection from “ Cavalleria Rnsticana ” and “ The Jevinston Suite.” There will be much variety in 4Y'’s programme. Sootiffsh songs will be sung by Mrs T>. Cnrtv (soprano), contralto solos by Miss AT. Stokos. tenor and baritone songs by Messrs R. Mitchell and L. J. Neilson respectively. Miss AT. Juriss will recite. A novelty turn will he provided hv Mr H. T)alziel on the marimbaphone. Ttems by the Studio Quintet will include selections from “The Quaker Girl,” and “The Rebel Maid.”
SATURDAY, JANUARY 10th
A concert to given by the Auckland Afunieipal Band under its new conductor, Captain Geo. Buckley, will be broadcast by fY V this evening. A bright and varied programme lias been arranged for the evening’s session at 2YA. The popular Afelodie Four will contribute and ATiss Davies will bo heard in soprano solos. A programme will he given by the Salon Orchestra, anl there will be a saxophone solo by Air W. J. Haines. The concert portion of 3YA’s programme will be provided by popular entertainers—Airs L. B. Snlkeld (so'Prnno). Airs D. W. Stallard (contralto), Air Syd Andrews (tenor), Mr Leslie Fleming (bass), Mr Jock Loekart and the iStudio Octet under Mr H. Glayslmr, deputy conductor. Elocutionary recitals by Mr J. F. ATontague, of Auckland, will be featured on 4YA’s programme for Saturday, January I.oth. His items will range from humouroiv; to dramatic. The Novelty iSyncopaters will prov’de n opular melodies and the latest hits. There will /be a piano novelty hv Air Afoore-Wilson and a saxophone solo by Air J. ATcCaw. The vocalists will be; Miss E. Shepard (soprano), Mrs A. H. Ritchie (contralto). Air W. Harrison ftenor), and AIrR. W. For (baritone).
