Mrs M. Robertson, a fine contralto singer, will be making her first appearance at IYA thus evining. Two humourous sketches will be given by Miss Maisie Carte-Loyd and Mr Alan McSkimming. while Mr Claude Suited, baritone, will contribute several songs. The Orchestral Octet will provide instrumental music for the evening. The programme will include a gramophone lecture-recital by Mr Karl Atkinson, entitled “ In Lighter Vein ” A concert will be given in 2Y"A Studio bv the Wellington Bovs’ Institute Band, under Mr A. 1 remonger This combination is always popular witli 2YA listeners. Included in the programme will be tAvo numbers, hitherto not heard in New Zealand, a Japanese poem, “ Ke-Sa-Ko ” and the march “ Joyce’s 71st N.Y. Regiment.” The solists for the e\'ening will be Miss Dorothy Spider (contralto) and Mr H. YV. Lowling (baritone). Miss Phyllis Ma r tin (sopranoi and Mr Edwin Dennis (tenor).
Special features attach to 3Y.\’s programme. Air J. F Montague, of Auckland, who has been engaged by the Broadcasting Company to tour New Zealand stations, will give an elocutionary recital. Miss Cicely Audibert (soprano) and Mr F. C. Penfold (baritone) will sing operatic and classical 'solos. Instrumental items will be given by Miss Ellis Gilders (pianiste). Miss Thelma Cusack (violiniste) and a trio consisting of Misses Cusack and Chapman and Mr Fred Page. Silent day at 4Y’A.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 9th
At 1Y T A tins evening Mr A. G. McPhail, baritone, is singing. The versatile Snappy Three will include some of the latest hits in their numbers, and Miss Kathleen Morrison, mezzosoprano will sing ballads. That popular combination, the Salon Trio, will contribute trios, piano solos, vocal solos with violin obligato, ’cello solos and violin solos.
At 2Y 7 A the Orcliestrina, under Signor A.. P. Truda. AvilJ plav the “Potted Overture ” by Fugleman, “ Robin Hood.” “The Leew,” “ Christmas Bells,” “One Alone” and “Tout Paris.” Mr Lawrence Scarle will be heard in humourous elocutionary items. The vocalists for the evening will be Miss Myra Sawyer and Mr V m. Boardmau in solos and duets, Mr Ste\'art Nelson (tenor) and Miss Muriel Johns in a number of up-to-date popular songs at the piano. The vocal programme from 3Y.Y will be a very popular one. The quartets ere old favourites; “Hail Caledonia.” “John Peel,” “On the Banks of Allan Water,” and “ In tin's Hour of Softened Splendour.” Among the solos will he: “When Other Lips,” “ Because,” “ Early in the Morning.” “ Friend of Mine.” “The Garden of Your .Heart.” and '“ln an Old Fashioned Town.” Humourous numbers will he given by Mr L. T. J. Ryan. The Studio Octet will play among other numbers the OA-ertnre to the “Bohemian Girl.” a selection from “ Caimlleria Bustieana. ” and “ The Jevington Suite.” There will he much variety in 4Y \’s programme. Scottish songs will be sung by Mrs D. Carty (.soorano), contralto solos by Mips M. tokos, tenor and baritone songs bv Messrs P. Mitchell and L. J. Neilson respectively. Miss M. Juriss null recite. A novel t-v turn will be provided bv Mr H. Dalai el on the marimbaphone. Ttems by the Staidio Quintet will include selections from “The Quaker Girl,” and “The Rebel Maid.”
