HIKURANGI MINE
SUCCESSFUL DEWATERING.

WELLINGTON, January 5. Advice lias been received by the
Mines Department that the water in the Hikurangi Mine, which has been flooded for some months, lias been lowered to a depth of 14 feet and that it is expeeted that by to-night the mine will be completely dewatered. The flooding of the mine caused great ' hardship amongst the .people,of the township of Hikurangi. The mine gives employment to a large number of men and it is hoped that activities in the mine will be resumed in the pgpr future.
