Tho Auckland Artillery Band, Auckland’s sole representative nt the Band Contest t.o be held at Wellington .n February, will provide a popular programme from IYA this evening. The New Clarion Quartet, consisting ol Miss L. Wood, Miss B. Smith, Mr L. Harvey and Mr D. Black will provide, many solos, duets and quartettes. The efforts of this combination arc always of a high standard and naturally much appreciated. Featured on 3YA’s programme will bo the orchestra of tho Working Men’s Club under Mr A. Heath, who was conductor of the orchestra at the Theatre Royal before the advent of the “Talkies.” This orchestra was formed two years a.Gro and is a very fine combination. The vocalists engaged for the evening are: Mrs L. Barriball (mezzo-soprano), Mr Roy Hill of Wellington (tenor), and Mr F. W. Simpson while humorous iettns will be given by. Mr H. Instone. 4YA’s programme on "Wednesday, January 7th, will be of an operaticclassical nature and will be followed by a, session of dance music. The vocalists will be Miss Let-tie de Clifford (soprano), Miss D’ary Teviotdalo :Ymitralto), Mr W. Harrison (tenor), and Mr B: Bell louse (baritone). M' A. Corrib will give a ’-coital ‘‘Ten Minute, with Keats.” 'Silent day at 2 YA.
THURSDAY, JANUARY Bth
Airs M. Robertson, a fine contralto singer, will be making her first appearance at IYA thys evining. Iwo humourous sketches will he given by Miss Maisio Carto-T/oyd »-nd Mr Alan McSkiinming. while Air Claude Suist--d. baritone, will contribute several songs. Tim Orchestral Octet will provide instrumental music for the evening. The programme will include a gramaphone lecture-recital by All Karl Atkinson, entitled “ In Lighter Vein ”
A concert will he given in 2A A Studio by the Wellington Boys’ Institute Band, under Air A. Jremonger This combination is always popular with 2YA listeners.
