WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 7, ibe meeting of the Westland Trotting Club, adjourneol i.horn Saturday last took place this afternoon. the night was showery, hut the morning broke fine and sunny with a southerly breeze. During the morning there were several showers. The attendance is moderate. The course is in good order. lhe following are the results up to going to press.— Tvy , District Handicap, 1£ miles:—(l) Indian- Author 1; (4) Altair .2; (3) Galindo .Rose ,3. Scr: Matehglow. Indian Author took charge from the start and held several lengths lead throughout, winning easily by four lengths; third a length away. Time--3.7. Tote £3OB.
Kanieri Handicap, 1 mile:—(2) Jean Drusus 1; (1) Hone Heke 2; (3) Gold Spear 3. Scr: Matehglow, Homeward Round, Dillon Logan. The winner led throughout. ,Hone Hoke after dropping hack to fourth came fast in, the straight, hut was benten by a length; Gold Spear, a.; length— - away third. : Time 2.22 4-5., }l .Tote £455%. •Rimu Goldfields Handicap, : 13 .miles: —(2) .Todd Bingen ,1; (5) Golden Spray 2; (7) Merry Peter 3. Alls tartfid. The winner took charge the second time round, and maintained the lead to win eflaily by three length** 3 third horse three lengths nwny, -Time 3.50 1-5. Tote £514, .
