RADIO PROGRAMME

The IYA Orcheptrnl Octet will be playing several very fine numbers this evening. Miss Lalla Hemus will give a ’cello solo entitled “Slumber Song,” with orchestral accompaniment. Mr Cyril Towsey, pianist will play one of Gcig’s masterpieces, the “Kollwrg Suite.” Mr .A R. Chappell; ALA., will give a further Topical Talk. The vocalists for the evening are Miss Molly Atkinson (mezzo soprano) and Mr Arthur Ripley (tenor). The 2YA Salon Orchestra will open 2YA’r programme with the overture “Glory to Russia.” Mr J. F. Mongnnue of Auckland will he heard in elocutionary numbers, humorous and classical. The soloists for the evening will include Mr Arthur Coe (tenor), Mr R. J. G. Madigan (bass), Ms W. E. Britton (contalto) and Miss Chrisjtina Young (mezzo-soprano) and MiBilly Hart in songs at the piano. Mr .Tames Dixon, conductor of the St. Hilda Band, has arranged a very attractive programme for h>.s men at, 4YA, As a cornet solo “The Lost Chord” will lie played. The vocalists for the evening will be Miss T>. Sligo, (soprano), Miss Helen Roy (contralto), and Mr F. Woods (bass), with Miss Pennie Marshall (elocutionist©). Gramophone recordings will introduce accord,ian, organ, and Hawaiian items. Silent day at 3YA.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 7th
The Auckland Artillery Band, Auckland’s sole representative at the Band Contest to be held at Wellington >n February,—will provide a popular programme from LYA this evening. The New Clarion Quartet, consisting of Miss L. Wood. Miss B. Smith, Mr L. Harvey and Mr D. Black will provide many solos, duets and quartettes. The efforts of this combination are always of a high standard and naturally much appreciated. Featured on 3YA’s programme will he the orchestra of the Working Men’s Club under Air A. Heath, Who was conductor of the orchestra at the Theatre Royal before the advent of the “Talkies.” This orchestra was formed two veins aeo and is ai very fine combination. The vocalists engaged for the evening are: Mrs L. Barriball rtnezzo-S'’nrnno), Mr Boy Hill of Wellington (tenor), and Mr F. W. Simpson (baritone), while humorous ietms will lie given l>\ Air H. Instone. 4YA’s programme on Wednesday, January 7th, will lie of an operaticclassical nature and will be followed by n. session of dance music. The vocalists will be Afiss Lettie de Clifford |Soprano), Miss Mary Teviotdale tralto), Afr W. Harrison (tenor), and AH B; Bell Inns'* (baritone). AI • A.
