CHINESE PIRATES
TWELVE CAPTURED

(Received this day at 8 a.m.) HONG KONG, Jan. 5. Two British merchant ships played a part in a private drama on Sunday, north of Bias Bay, which occurred when pirate junks were attacking other junks. The steamers Hangehang and Soochow joined forces and manoeuvred rounding up the pirates, meanwhile wii-elessing for assistance. H.M.S. Somme arrived arresting twelve pirates who are now en route for Hongkong.
Captain Kilmau of the Hangcliang states- he heard firing and cries to save life when near the junks. He thereupon gave chase threatening to ram the junks, which frantically endeavoured to escape.
The Hangehang assisted the steamers ill encircling their prey until the arrival of the warship. There were no. casualties,
