WESTLAND RACING CLUB

COMMITTEE MEETING

Jhe Committee of the above Club met at 8.35 o’clock last evening,. Present—Messrs \V. E. Williams (President). R. Wliiley, C. .). P. Sellers. J. Peake, A. W. Yarrali, C. Neville 1 . H. Rutland, .1. J. Mclntosh and D. J. Evans Alter transacting the formal business the Treasurer presented a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the Christmas meeting. The receipts were £3,646 17s 6d, and the expenses were estimated at £3,389 19s Sd. The statement revealed a surplus of £256 17s l()d. The Chairman stated the statement could he received with real pleasure, and he congratulated the Club on the all round success of the meeting. While the Club’s profit was only £256, the Government collected in taxation from the meeting no less than £1,377. In view of the heavy impost for taxation there was all the more satisfaction that the meeting was able to show a profit, which included the rebate on the totalisator tax of £164,

The report was received and adopted and the accounts passed for payment. A vote of thanks was passed to all who had assisted at the meeting, special mention being made of the assistance from the ladies, also Mr H. T. Parry’s help with the supplementary miusic provided each day. The services of auxiliary stewards were also referred to, ‘the gate steward '(Mr Jamieson) being mentioned specially. Reference was made to the condition of the course, ground and appointments. which reflected the good work for which the caretaker ((). Fowler) was responsible. Mir B. Sandibmds, Stipendiary Steward, in the course of his report, stated the course- was in good order. The fields were fair and the rating interesting, and although a mini her of horses wero more or less unruly at the post, there was nothing wanan* log a warning for the list. The meeting was well conducted, the officials being attentive to their respective duties.— The following draft programme for the Easter meeting on April Bth was approved :—Trial Race (for 2-year-olds and upwards) 51 furlongs £7O: Woodstock Hack, 6 furlongs, £7O; Express Trot. 1 mile (2.28), £75: Autumn Handicap, 11 miles, £120; President is Handicap. 5) furlongs, £80; High Weight (minimum Bst), < furlongs, £7O; Dominion Trot, H miles (3.12). £75; Final Handicap, 6 furlongs, £BO —Total £640.
