Cool) TONE AT SYDNEY. ' (Australian Dress Association.) SYDNEY, Jan. 5. . TUo wool sales were resumed to-day here, and 10,(514 bales were offered, of which 9,509, were sold, ns well as 1,199 bales which were, deposed of privatdy. The market showed an improved tone. The prices were well equal to the closing rates of the December series. For all merinos, there was ’ strong competition, chiefly- from Japaneses and German operators. The finer grade's of crossbreds were unchanged. while for coarse, sorts there was very restricted demand. Greasy merinos made 13Jd. The death is recorded of Mr Diluent) Carson, former chairman of directors of AYiihTu-.-juiiie., Carson, - Ltd.
