MANIAC AT LARGE
ATTEMPTS TO ASPHYXIATE. [United Press Association.— Pj Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (Received 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 5. Alarm has been caused in the suburb of Waverley hv the actions of a maniac who has attempted to asphyxiate the inmates of two households, with gas from a hose which lie attached to a meter. The man is still at large. The attempts failed and this time three girls had very narrow escapes. At both places the madman disturbed the father of the house who gave chase.
