IS MISS JOHNSON ILL? HER, VENTURE MYSTERIOUS, [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyr'ght.] LONDON, January 2. The “Daily Express” states: “There is much that is mysterious and disturbing about Amy Johnson’s attempt to, fly to China.” The paper describes her physieinl Condition as doubtful. The Australian flight took a great toll, Her nervous condition and her flying after her return revealed distinct signs of deterioration. Her friends say that she has been overstrung latterly, irritable, and depressed, and that she cannot remain still for a moment. Her mother and father have approved of her flight because she has been so restless. No British aviator has ever flown direct tmm London to Peking. The route includes thousands of miles of Arctic scenery. Mbs Johnson has no experience of snow flying. No insurance has been arranged.
AMY’S MOTORING OFFENCE
LONDON, January 2
The “Daily Herald” states: —When Amv Johnson was summoned for a technical motoring offence yesterday, and the ease was dismissed, it was disclosed that she was engaged on Government work.
Her mother yesterday refused to state the connection of this fact with the flight, remarking: “That’s an absolute secret!”
