For horses which have been in one of the Counties of Buller, Inangahua, Grey or Westland, or any West Coast Borough, for at least three months immediately prior to the race, and owned or leased by residents of the said Counties or Boroughs. Horses will be handicap to do 3.7 or better, li miles. Nomination 20s; acceptance 30s. 2. KANIERI HANDICAP (in harness). 80 sovs., second horse to receive 16 sovs , and 3rd horse 8 sovs. from the stake. Horses in this event will be handicapped to do 2.28 or hotter. 1 mile.
