FRIDAY, JANUARY 2nd
During til© programme from IYA this evening, the. Monte Carlo Orchestra- under the direction of Mr F. K. Cunningham, will give several items, Mrs Pearl Owen, mezzo-soprano, is singing and Mr Arthur Simpson, baritone, will also be heard. He has included amongst his items the iiovelty number entitled “The Bassoon.” Vocal and instrumental numbers will be given by the Neiafu Duo, another popular combination at this station. The variety programme from 2YA will feature Mr Stewart Nelson, also Miss F. Mackenzie in popular soWs at the piano. Banjo solos will be played by Mr F. Walker, and humorous recitations will be given by Miss Fanny Kutner. In the many miscellaneous items to be broadcast from 3YA, listeners will find much t-o plea.se them. Mr J. Lockhart will make bis second appearance at 4YA. Also performing will be, Miss El. Shepard (soprano), Miss M. Somerville (contralto),' Miss T. C. Blackman (mezzo-soprano), Mrs Drake (pianiste) and an instrumental quintet.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 3rd. The IYA Orchestra Octet under the direction of Mr H. Baxter, will this evening,’ provide, a programme in-, eluding the suite, “Three Fn'nious Pictures” ,by Wood. Miss E. Smithson, a young singer, is making her first appearance at this station. The Bohemian Due will appear in Popular Vocal and instrumental numbers, while Air A. Wright, bass-baritone, will give a group of bright songs. Another singer from 2YA, Miss P. Martin, will , be-heard in .several ballads. Appearing in the vaudeville programme at 2YA, will be the Lyric Male Voice Quartet, Mad.lie, Bola Shea, Mr Lad Haywood and Air Len Ashton, incidental music being supplied by the Salon Orchestra. / The Four Rascals will provide forty minutes of 3YA’s variety programme. Their items wijl comprise vocal and instrumental music, patter and humour. Also on the programme will •be Afr E. Withers, 'Mr J. Wopdliam and Afr A. Hodgson, in clarinet, mouth prgan and banjolin solos respectively. Two excellent vocalists will also be contributing—Miss Monica O’Oonnell (a talented young soprano) and Mrs A. Graham.
4YA’s studio programme will be provided by Miss I). Dagg (soprano). Miss S. McCready (contralto), Air J. 'B. Hamilton* (tenor), ’Mr Wilfrnl Kerha.w (bass) and recitations by Miss Anita Bowler. Featured on the programme will he the Novelty Syncbpaters who will present popular melodies. ' A saxophone solo will be played by Air J. McCaw.
