RUGBY, Jan. 1
Amy Johnson left this morning on a solo flight to Peking via Berlin, Moscow. Omsk and the trans-Siberian route. On the northern stage of the flight the machine will be fitted with skis. She hopes to reach Brussels or Berlin to-day. This will be the first British flight direct to Peking.

LONDON, Jan. 1
A Liege message states Amy Johnson landed at Bieisete aerodrome at 1.15. The weather was bad. Amy had followed the Meuse which guided her to Liege. She had some difficulty in obtaining hotel accommodation for the night 'but the problem was solved with the assistance of aerodrome officials. Miss Johnson, continues her flight in the morning.

GISBORNE, January 2
Further particulars of the Waipiro Elay aviation accident are that in the opinion formed by spectators was that Buckeridge, After descending low, decided not to take the risk of landing on the bench till the scattered spectators were clear of the strip lie proposed to use, and his care for ffie safety of the public led to the crash. The plane was coming down slowly against a wind. Then the pilot -apparently changed his mind and began to lift the machine again. The speed was too slow to enable the clearance of a
Maori dwelling and with a .startling report from splintered timbers the plane buried its nose in the kitchen of the building.
A further accident occurred whilst the injured aviator was being hurried to the hospital, the motor car crashing with another car on a sharp hern* on the road, both vehicles being damaged. Buckeridge was reported today to have been discharged from the hospital and is proceeding to Gisborne.
