RADIO PROGRAMME

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER, 31st

For New Year’s Eve programme at IYA, Ernest and Wendy Luks will present “Merry Moments at the Pianlb.” The Trivolian Trio, consisting of piano, banjo, and saxophone, will make their first appearance at IYA. '

They come with a reputation of being masters of their particular instruments. The Mati Trio will be heard in several songs. Miss Phyllis Gribbeh, back in. Auckland on holiday, will b b singing. The second part of the evening’s programme will be devoted to a special presentation of a novelty programme entitled “A New Year’s Eve House Party,” to he produced by Mrs Zoe Bartley-Baxter and her company. Dance-music will follow, to be succeeded by a relayed description of the New Year Evei festivities which always take place in Auckland round about the Ferry Building.

Three new radio singers will appear at 2YA—Mr C. W. Edwards (a pow-

erful bass singer), Mrs 0. W. Ed-

wards (contralto) and Mr A. H. Outtrim (tenor). The soprano soloist, Mrs R. D. Potts, Messrs J. H. Thomas and B. French, a- new novelty instrumental duo, will also appear on the* programme. Mr G. Gardiner will recite two. humorous numbers. The Orcliestrina, under Signor A. P. Trudn, will play suitable supporting music. From 10 to 11.55 p.m. a dance programme will be given after which a relay of the Watch Night Service from St. John’s Presbyterian Church will he carried out.

Miss Addie Campbell, who earned the soubriquet of “The Bendigo Nightingale” when she first appeared before the Australian public, will be heard again from 3YA this evening, when she is certain to enhance the very fine impression she created some weeks ago, Solo and concerted vocal numbers will h e . provided by the Avonside Male Voice Quartet. Mr Jock Loekharx will dispense Scottish humour. There will he selections by the Studio 1 Octet. From 10 to 11.45 p.m. dance music will he broadcast, after which the microphone will he taken to Cathedral Square to let listener know how Christchurch welcomes the New Year.

Appropriately enough, 4YA has engaged the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band for tins evening. The pipers will contribute extensively to the concert programme from 8 to 10 p.m., and at midnight the strains of “Auld Lang Syne” wMI float over the air accompanied by the bagpipe music. On the vocal side will be-Miss Cooper (soprano), Mr J. Simpson (tenor) and Air L. J. Neil son (baritone), singing many popular airs. Marimba-phone items will be. played by Mr Stewart. THURSDAY, JANUARY Ist. 193 T Two very popular singers, Mrs Laetitia Parry (who has included in her items “Ring Out Wild Bells”) and Mr Albert Gibbons Taylor (who is also singing some popular songs including the old favourite, “Simon the Cellarer,) will be heard from IYA this evening. A group of intsrumeintal items will be given by Ingall’s Hawaiian Quartet, and Mr R. McKnight will play several numbers on the English concertina. Mr Reg. Morgan and his orchestra will have a ■very busy evening supplying items during the concert session and dance music until 11 p.m.

A vailed programme will be broadcast bv 2YA, the vocalist being Miss Myra Sawyer, Mr Wm. Boardman, Miss Ei. Robinson and Mr Harry Phipps'. The- sfougs will include a number of old favourites. Two humorous sketches will be given by the Skelcliers, and jazz piano solos by Mr Allan Shan cl. The Salon Orchestra will play suitable incidental music of a light nature. The Salon Quartet of 3YA, Mr Geo. ■Pitohener (humorist) and the Studio Octet, will provide a popular programme, which will be followed by a session of dance music. Mr Jock Lockhart, Scottish entertainer, is scheduled for 4YA this evening. also Mrs B. Stone (contralto), Miss E. Young (soprano), Mr Bert Rawlinson (baritone), an instrumental trio, and Miss Holland, who will give recitations in Irish dialect.
