MARSHAL JOFFRE
IN DYING STATE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright ) PARIS, December 27. Marshal Joffre has had his right leg amputated. France has been shocked to leran that the condition of Marshal Joffre is desperate, and that bis death is only a matter of days. He forbade until now the disclosure that he had been suffering from arteritis in the leg. The operation effected a temporary improvement. Five specialists, however. state that .gangrene lias supervened.
