£17,000,000 SPENT ON WIRELESS SETS IN AMERICA LAST YEAR. For the statistically minded, here are a few figures well worth mulling over. It is estimated that since 1922 the manufacturers of this icountry have turned out 18,000,000 radio sets. In addition, since that year approximately 3,000,000 receivers have been made by amateurs. During the full year 1922. a total of £1,000,000. it is estimated, was spent for radio receiving sets. Last year that total was about £17.000.000. The crystal set, which formerly held the field almost undisputed, now accounts for but three per cent, of the total radio set ownership in the United States. Although there is no way of proving the accuracy of the figure, it has been estimated bv some competent authorities that 50,000 000 persons listened in on broadcast programmes.
