FACTORIES FOR MILITARY PURPOSES. U,.S.A. WAR OFFICE ENQUIRY. 'A circular inquiry was sent out by the U.S. War Department to 14,000 American factories asking them to give exact information as to what extent they could be transformed and ssed for military purposes in case of ,yar. f Officials of the War Department assert that the inquiry is merely of technical nature. The major policy of the U’.S.A. is directed towards the abolition of the war as a means of settling international conflicts. It has been reaffirmed that the objects of the inquiry is to make unjustified war-profiteering by individuals impossible and at the same time to ensure the highest degree of co-operation in times of national emergency.
