COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. By Telegiaph—Per Prc.-m Assnemtion.) AUCKLAND, December 22. The. hearing of charges against Brian Dunningham (solicitor), William Cornelius Tarckler (taxidriver) and Samuel Thomas Baker (carpenter) was continued to-day. Tarckler pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence and was committed, for trial on charges against him telegraphed on Friday. Evidence was given by Robert Pairman of Otahuhu (carpenter) that he purchased a home at Otahuhu six years ago. In October 1929 after inspecting a section at Point- Chevalier, witness told Dunningham he wanted a Government loan. He told Dunningham his Otahuhu home was his own and accused replied that it, would be all right as the property could be transferred to.hjs wife's, eldest sou aged seven. Accused told him he Heed pay no mopey until six months after the house had beep built* Witness selected the plaps of a house to cost £720. Later he signed documents, including a statutory declaration ip which the price of the house was given at £BOO. He called accused's attention to tne statement in declaration that he (witness) was not the owner of any other property and reminded him of the Otahuhu property, Accused said it could be transferred to-the child, The property had not been transferred. In July at Dunninghnm’s request he made a new declaration and received an assurance that everything was all right, Accused was to pay a deposit of £lO on the section for witness. Mrs Pairman, in evidence, said in one interview she said to accused she had been told the Otahuhu property cQu]d pot be transferred. Accused replied he could not understand why, as he was putting through cases of the kind every day, Evidence on similar lines relating to the other properties was given by John Fraser King a labourer and his wife, Thomas William Bennet a clerk and Albert Alfred EH worth, motor driver, Ronald Hurley Godfrey motor driver, Sidney Horace Loyle, labourer, and his wife, Edward Beech and his wife and an officer of the State Advances Department, Dunningham pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial. Bail was reserved. The evidence against the third man, Baker is being heard this afternoon. Whep thp proceedings against Dunningham worn resumed, the Grown Peli. citop, Mr Meredith, said that fdl iff the evidence against William Cornelius'Tnrckler, aged 33, taxi cab driver, and formerly a hul'-der, had been completed, Tarckler was charged with thrice counselling another man to make declarations which would amount to perjury if made i|| judicial proceedings, while there was a further joint charge against Tarckler and Punning ham of obtaining from the State Advances Department at Wellington £B6O by falsely representing that money was required for the erection of a house at Point Chevalier. Accused entered a plea of not guilty, and Tarckler was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, Bail was renewed in the sum o| £IOO, with two sureties of £SO eachA second man arrested, Samuel Thomas Baker aged 3(5, a carpenter was charged with making a false declaration which would amount to perjury if made on oath or affirmation during judicial proceedings. He pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, bail being granted in self £3OO, and one surety of £3OO. I
