UNEMPLOYED SCENE
A BRUSH WITH POLICE

WELLINGTON, Dec. 23.
. A determined attempt to break through a police cordon at Parliament Buildings was made by a small number of unemployed this morning but was frustrated.
The unemployed intended to interview the Minister of Labour and a banner demanding work or sustenance was carried. When the leaders met the police at the gates they were refused admission.
A seuff.c took place and police,
mounted and on foot, had to use force to prevent an entry. The banner was seized and broken. The initiative appeared to be with a small body of the leaders. For alleged obstruction of the police in execution of their duty, James Bartley known as a Communist, and William Gladwvn wore arrested, '
