ITALY’S POSITION

REVIEW BY MUSSOLINI. (United Press Association —By Electrw Telegraph—Copyright). (Received tins day at 8 am.) R 051 E. Dece in be r 19. Reviewing Italy’s position on the occasion of the passage of a Bill effecting an all round reduction of salaries of Government employees, Signor Mussolini said in view of the fact that many Italians thought distress existed only in Italy, he had given instruction last August to relax tbe passport restrictions for emigrants for everywhere but America. At first many took advantage of the concession, but now the number entering Italy was greater than departing. Since they had reduced wages and prices it had enforced on the Italian people a magnificent example of discipline. Rofering to the nine hundred million lire deficit, he said it was impossible to increase taxation, therefore it must be met by a reduction of taxation.
