VI CUM OF WAR SER VICE.

RUAWAI, December 17. A returned soldier,. Walter Alfred Woodward, single, aged 34, committed suicide with a shot gun on Tris moth er’s farm at Ruawai this morning. Deceased’s brtoher heard a shot fired and found the body with the gun beside it, dose to a cowshed. Evidence at the inquest showed deceased to have been suffering from depression from time to time since his return from the war, and that his depressed condition during the past six months had been worse. A verdict of suicide while in a state of unsound mind caused by depression, following the effects of war service, was returned.
