GERMAN FASCISTS
AS THEATRE CENSORS, [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] BERLIN, December 14. Emboldened by their success in securing the withdrawal of the fi'm “All Quiet on the Western Front” throughout Germany as cabled on December 11th, the Nazis are now attempting to establish an unofficial film censorship. Four hundred of them attended the first night of the revue, “Love Ale,” at Nuremburg. They remained quiet while the girls engaged, who were dressed in national costumes, representing various foreign nations, appeared on the stage. As soon, however, as “Miss Germany” appeared, clad in a plain frock, intended to indicate that Germany was in a distressed state, the Nazis set up an uproar. They hurled stink bomb and rotten eggs too wards the stage. As a climax they released among the audience a number of white mice. The audience became panic-trickcn. The women were shrieking and jumping up on chairs. The police were called in and cleared the theatre, using their batons.
A CHALLENGE. TO GERMAN FASCISTS. BERLIN, December 14. A redoubtable and bitter opponent of Hitler bus sprung up in the person of Lieut. Von Muecke, one of the most popular of Germany’s war heroes, who escaped with a landing party from the “Emden,” and reached the Red Sea. He then led a party across the desert to Constantinople. He was formerly allied to the Nazi Party, and was their delegate to the Saxon Parliament. In his own words: “I have turned hack on them with intep.se loathing,” he is engaging in a great campaign in which he is calling on Germany to throw off her mask and “realise that these men, who are posing as the nation’s purifiers, are convicted of corruption, ember/dement, usury and burglary.”
