NEW YORK, December 13

One of the most serious Communist riots here occurred when 1500 “Reds” were marching upon the French Consulate on Fifth Avemie to protest against “war plotting towards the Soviet.” The Communists halted the traffic for a quarter of a mile, and they battled with the police for several hours.

At one time the Communists had vanquished the polic-e. A large crowd surrounded the demonstrators, who, however, were dispersed when the police reserves were called up.

Many men and women among tlie Communists, who carried large placards, were severely beaten. Several were arrested. '
