For the opening of the New Brighton Trotting Club’s Summer meeting this afternoon, the weather was fine for the first five races, when rain set in. The attendance was good, and the track was in excellent order. The tote investments were £19,181, compared with £28,161 last year.
Trial Handicap:— (1) Lough Guy 1; (5) Biddy Parrish. 2; (3) Guy Carbine 3. ' Won by three lengths. Time 3.29 3-5.
Mace Hemorial Handicap : —(1) Arethusa, 1; (3) Hostess 2; (5) Tarndale 3. Won by half a length. Time 4.37 2-o.
