N.S.W. POLITICS. (Australian Press Association.) (Received this day at 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 11. Two Bills dealing with the abolition of the Upper House passed all stages in the Assembly.
The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Bavin protested against the \“unsaem!y haste” displayed by the Premier in attempting to aoolish the Upper House for which lie had no direct mandate from the electors.
COUNTRY STOREKEEPERS. REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL AID. • SYDNEY, Dec. 11. Strained to the utmost limit of their resources, storekeepers, who are carrying .the dead-weight of the system of distribution on their shoulders, have in desperation fixed January 31st, 1931, as the date beyond which it will he impossible to carry on. The foregoing sentence fe contained in an ap-, peal to the Premier from Country Traders Association of New South Wales, comprising 1200 country storekeepers. They urge the Government to approach the Loan Council for the necessary authority to float a rural emergency loan of two million stalling. This is considered the only practical means of meeting the present situation.
LABOUR CAUCUS. ASSISTANCE TO WHEAT GROWERS. CANBERRA) Dec. 11. At the Federal Labour Caucus meeting, indignation was expressed at the failure of the Government to come to the assistance of wheat growers. The caucus decided that; the Ministry be instructed to introduce legislation to afford relief to growers.
