J-.Stalliorthjl, Minister of Hospitals; stating he -was awaiting the deciion of the South Westlandsettlers to raise £SOO as a; ; voluntary donation for the"doctor’s- residence. Received. From Janet Moore,■ Nurse Instructor reporting on inspection--visit. to hospital, and notifying requirements ■in connection with the' tuition of nurtes. Received nnd. referred; to'. the Matron for attention to the necessary require-
ments. < \< i ! '' From Hospital Department Wellington notifying that •no funds were available for subsidy on donations and bequests during the present finacial year.—Received. " ( . From Thomas Nolan, Matainui stating his Association'desired the section at Matainui to be transferred,, back from the'Board to the ’ Association.— Received and agreed to; 1 , The tender of W, and Son for hair mattresses was; accepted. • , The tender of J, Mercer and. Son, for supply of"three cylinders at 18s each was accepted, ’• Ji . The contract for the supply . of p» for twelve mopths by, MrE.R ei fi waß renewed, From G. Small, wnrdsman,. applying for annual leave. —Received and granted. APPLICATIONS. Seven applications or'the position 1 as staff nurse were received and it was recommended that Miss Alice W.' McLeod of Otaki be appointed: Agreed to. The Chairman moved that the list ol outstanding accounts scheduled be sued, for forthwith. Seconded .by Mr Evenden and carried. REPORTS. , .•’ From Surgeon Superintendent; Westland Hospital, reporting on Nov. Ist land Hospital reported -on - November, Ist there were 34- patients.;. Admitted during November 21 males 18 females. Total treated, 36 males, 27. females ; relieved 2 males, 2 females. Diedr- 1, male. Total discharged, . 18. males 29 females.—47. Remaining in hospital 30th November 18 males B;females —26. In hospital for two months, 6 males, 5 females—ll.—Received. I‘Accounts amounting to £377 _9.s Id were passed for payment. ; f From Treasurer reporting receipts £956 os lOd; payments £B9B 14s Id; credit balance £139 4s Id.—-Received. It .was resolved to make the usual appeal for Xmas cheer for the patients, the Chairman of the House Committee to mahe the usual arrangements; the next meeting was. fixed for January 12th, The Chairman extended to members his best wishes for the festive season, arid thanked members for the kindly *upport given during the yearr He .also wished to thank the Press, the officials, at tho hospital and the,secretary and staff for the assistance given.
Mr Davidson acknowledged the remarks of the chairman and reciprocated the good wishes extended on behalf of members. • : •; *' ■. Mr Meharry and Mr Keenan also endorsed the good wishes, the latter also tributing the work of Mr “Davidson at the. hospital. The Chairman endorsed the remarks of Mr Keenan in reference to Mr Davidson. '
Mr Evenden hoped all would have a good holiday and that the next year will be a -successful one.; • )!' . Mr Davidson '' referred to ' the good work of the Ladies’ Sewing Guild who attended at the hospital, each week and, that the thanks'of the Board be conveyed to Mr Newman who conveyed them to the hospital free of cost. The Chairman endorsed the remarks and the references were agreed to. The Board rose at 9.15 p.m.
