memorial dinner. \ United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph .—Copyright.] LONDON, December 7There was an interesting gathering at the Cafe Royal when the descendants of famous poets dined and toasted the memory of the immortals' on the occasion of the twenty-first birthday of the Poetry Society. Those present included descendants of the poets Pope, Barham, Mrs Homans, Coleridge, Wliatt, John Gay, Byron, Wordsworth, Sheridan, Milton. Lord Darling in a speech, stated that it had been said that those whom the gods loved died young. Ho believed that the general understanding of this saying was wrong. It really meant that those whom the gods love remained young until they died.
