Evidence of the acuteness of political feeling in Calcutta is furnished by the action of Dr I'rqiihart, principal of the {Scottish Church College, who has written to the Viceroy and Lady Irwin, requesting them to abandon their engagement to attend the forth coming college centenary celebrations as infordatiun had been received that “an attempt, emanating from outside sources will be much 1 to mar the harmony of the proceedings on the occasion of your visit.’’ BRIGANDS RAID. THREE DEFENDERS SHOT. DELHI, Dec. 7. A fifteen year Hindu girl was killed after a plucky stand against armed brigands who raided a money lender’s shop in a village near Lahore. The attackers were restated by the villagers, two of whom were shot. The wounded girl hurled bricks at the raiders till she was. overpowered and shot dead.
FOOD BY AEROPLANE. ~ DELHI, Dec. 7. Food supplies for a thousand men during two days moving from, Durgoi to Ohitral, were dropped from aeroplanes front air parachutes. Fourteen plans delivered three tones daily making four journeys from the base over difficult mountainous country. Fortveight of fifty-six parachute loads were delivered safely on the first day and every load but two on the second.
