RADIO PROGRAMME

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6th
A new artist, Mr Peter Davidson, (baritone), is included on lYA’s programme for this evening. The IYA Orchestral Octet under ' the direction of Mr Harold Baxter, will provide many interesting items including a violin solo by M Baxter. Miss Chrissie Foster (soprano), will sing three delightful little songs. The Neiafu Duo consisting of Hawaiian and steel guitars will give a quartet of Hawaiian numbers with vocal ■ refrains. Mrs B. Jellard (contralto) will also be heard. To 2YA’s programme, the Lyric Male Voice Quartet and Miss Phyllis Leighton will contribute solos and concerted numbers of a light nature, and Messrs Gibson and Scanden will feature popular songs. Novelty instrumental items will be given by Mrs Mildred Kenny’s Guitar Orchestra and the humour of the programme will be provided by Mr Len Ashton, whose items will include songs by Handley (England’s leading Radio comedian). The Salon Orchestra will also be playing. 3YA has a splendid vaudeville programme arranged. 'On the musical side will be Miss Hilda Hutt and Mr Clive Hindle (vocalists). Well known melodies will issue from Mrs G. Amer’s accordion. Mr J. J. Flewellyn and Mr Geo. Kitchener will contribute humorous numbers and an instrumental programme will be played by tne Studio Octet. 4YA’s programme will be reminiscent of a night with the Fisk Jubilee Singers that company of emancipated slaves who toured the world some forty years ago. Items will be sung by the members of the choir of St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church under the direction of Mr P. Rawlinson. The church services to be broadcast on Sunday evening will be: IYA—St. Mary’s Cathedral, Preacher, Dr. A. W- Averill, Archbishop of New Zealand. 2YA— Terrace Congregational Church. Preacher, Rev. H. W. Newell. 3Y A—Durham Street Methodist Church. Preacher, Rev. W. T. Blight. 4y r A—St. John’s Anglican Church. Preacher, Ven. Archdeacon Fitchett. MONDAY, DECEMBER Bth. The Singing Circle of the Pioneer Club, together with the Orchestrina, will provide the whole of the programme for 2YA’s concert this evening. The vocal itenfk by the Singing Circle will comprise glees, trios, duets and quartettes, the soloists being Misses Nora Gray and Ella Fair, and Me “dames Phyllis Ramsay, Dane Carrington and P. J. Townley. The male vocalists will be Mr Colin Gray and Mr J. M. Goodson.
Conductor R. J. Estall of the Wooltson Band has arranged an excellent programme for presentation at 3YA. The vocalists will he Mrs Graham Jameson (mezzo-soprano) and Mr Malcolm Miller (bass baritone).
On 4YA’s programme, there will be much variety. A new radio performed. Miss Lucy James (contralto), will take part. Other artists of very high calibre arc also on the programme— Mr C. S. Hawes (baritone), Miss Blackman (soprano, representing the latest theme song hits), Mr J. B. Hamilton (tenor) and Miss Ngata Bnswell (elocutioniste). The complete instrumental section of this programme will be provided by the Kenz Orpheans. Silent clay at IYA.
