TRADES COUNCILS
REVIVAL OF FEDERATION. WELLINGTON, December 2. A movement is afoot, it is stated, to revive the Trades Council Federation and it is probable that before very long the subject will receive consideration by the Wellington Trades and Labour Council. - Several-years ago the Trades Council Federation was a strong industrial body in New Zealand, having branches in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Dunedin, Invercargill, Timaru, Gisborne, and Wanganui'. When the executive decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Allianec o Labour the Wellington Trades Council was the only council to affiliate, though the Dunedin Council joined later. At present, the Auckland and the Christchurch Trades Councils are not affiliated to the Alliance of Labour, ft is probable that a special meeting of the Well ill Eton Trades and Labour Council will he, held shortly to consider the position.
