■The “’Times” Paris correspondent says a R.lOl survivor, Leech, aeroplaned from London to attend a presentation at Beauvois Town Hall of decorations and gifts to persons prominently associated with the disaster. Ambassador Tyrrell distributed the awards on behalf of the King, including a cheque for £l5O sterling to Beauvois Hospital gifts to the towns of Beauvois ami Allonne and 149 persons; C.BE. to the Mayors of Beauvois and Allonne. K.D.E. to the Secretary General of the Air Ministry and prefect of Oise Department.

Ali ss Winifred Spooner was traversing the Tyrrhenean Sea in the moonlight when engine trouble caused her descent and luckily the aeroplane floated. The pair sent up flares for two hours and also constantly shouted out were unsuccessful. Then Aliss Spooner who is an excellent swimmer, icsolved to attempt to swim to the shore, which is estimated to be two miles distant. The sea was choppy and the current strong. AVlien she landed two hours later, she was suffering considerably from cold and exhaustion and was- unable to find anyone. She managed, however, to stumble to the railway station at-Bel-monte, where she was given first aid. J’lie station staff aroused fishermen, who set off' to rescue. They were guided to the plane by the few remaining flares leit in possession of Edwards. Dawn was just breaking when Edwards was taken in tow.

Aliss Spooner was slightly injured about the nose and lips and Edwards on the forehead. They are at present guests of the Mayor of Belmonte.

AUCKLAND, December 5

T\\*o young Aucklanders, Ernest and Arthur Eldeson, who last year constructed an aeroplane which crashed at the first attempt to fiy ( yesterday attempted to get, into the air with a second plane of their own construction. After taxiing along the Muriwai Beach and gethering a speed of fifty miles, the left wing collapsed and the machine was completely wrecked, The pilot Ernest \\ as unconscious lor three quarters of an hour and considerably bruised. . His brother was hurled through the side of the fuselage and also bruised.
