HOSPITAL FEES. LARGE SUMS WRITTEN OFF. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 3. i Fees totalling £488,437 have been written off during the last seven years by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The Secretary, Mr W. S. Wharton said this sum related to 25 different institutions. Every effort was made to collect fees, but the board w».s never oppressive to anyone. When a patient received treatment, it was ascertained if the account could be met, and if circumstances warranted, the account was written down or arrangements were made for it. to be paid in instalments. The board made every effort to meet patients and there were instances of accounts being paid at the rate of only five or ten shillings a month. GISBORNE AERO CLUB. GISBORNE, December 3.
