CENTRAL RESERVE BANK
£. - A FAVOURABLE REPORT. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, December 3. The Federal Parliamentary Select Committee’s report on the- establishment of a Central Reserve Bank in Australia has been tabled in the House of Representatives.
The committee suggests that Parliament should consider the advisability of providing the structure for such a bank along lines of tbose. in other countries, whim probably would permit of easy co-operation with similar institutions. It recommends that the Government’s holding in the banks should be limited to one third to be made up by public subscriptions.
It also recommends that the dividends should be limited, and that the first aim of the Bank should be to build up an adequate reserve for service in times of stress. It is recommended that the shareholders should receive no share of the profits from the note issue, also that two-thirds of the directors should be elected by the shareholders, and the remainder by the Government.,
