A very serious accident happened at the Mount David Sluicing Lompany’s water race yesterday morning. Some men were working on a face when several yards of dirt suddenly came away, and unfortunately a young man, Mr 'Frank Holling, came away with it, with the result that lie wap buried and, after being rescued, it was founa that lie was very badly hurt about the head and one of his wrists was badly wit. The Methodist Ladies Guild enter tained members of St. Andrew’s and All Saints’ Guilds at the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs Knowles Smith, President of the Guild, welcomed the guests, a special welcome being extended to Mrs Knights . who made her first appearance at these gatherings. The afternoon passed very pleasantly. Hongs were rendered by Misses Whiley, Lynn, E., Knight, musical monologue by Miss Evans, and pianoforte solos by Misses Delibridge and Streeter, recitation by Miss Perry. Two competitions were held and. afternoon ten handed, round. At the conclusion Mrs ParkhiU returned thanks on behalf of St. Andrew’s and extended an {imitation to all present to. an afternoon on Tuesday at the Soldierp’ Hall where Miss Potts will give an interesting account of her travels Vn the Old World. Mrs Mackay and Mrs Knights' also spoke on behalf of All Saints’ Guild. The National Anthem concluded a very enjoyable gathering.
