REPLY TO COMPLAINT ABOUT HEALTH INSPECTION. By Telegraph—Per Press Association WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. Complaints have been made at Auckland by the officers of the American tourist ship ‘‘Malolo” regarding irritating delays a.t the Australian ports and at Wellington through an unduly long inspection by the port health authorities. Delay is strongly denied by 'the New Zealand Health Department. Tim- Department states that the “Malolo” did not drop anchor at Wellington till 3.35 p.m. Two doctors were in a tender waiting alongside, but owing to the “Malolo” overlooking a boarding-ladder, tho health officials did not get aboard until 3.45. The examination of the passe ngeife and the crew Was completed in thirty minutes, Captain Berndston, Master of the “Malolo,” complimenting them on the quick manner in which, the inspection had been carried out. Ihe Department adds that, in spite of flip fact that the “Malolo’s” officer in Auckland stated the health of the “Malolo’s” passengers was “assured from the start,” the examining officials discovered a certain vicious disease among certain of the passengers and members of the crew. They were not allowed to land.
