FEILDING, Dec. 1

There was beautiful weather tor tne second day of the races, with splendid racing, and large fields on ,a good track.

Oroua Nursery.—(B) Hampden 1, (13) Furlong 2, (7) White Squall 3. All started. Won by one length; one and a half lengths. Time 1.4. Rongotea Hack : —(5) Spearform 1; (9) Hawkshnw 2; (17) Calamine 3. Won by if length. Time 1.57. Colyton Handicap:—(7) Tenterden 1; (1) Autopay 2; (2) Just au Idea 3. Won in a thrilling finish by barely half a length. Time 1.14 3-5. Nikau Nack:—(3) Arises 1; (4) Leisure 2; (17) Rotben 3. A very close finish, heads separating the placed horses. Time 1.15 2-5. Empire Ha ndica p(6) Aliss Ransom 1; (1) Arikinui 2; (9) Bonogne 3. Won by a length. Time 1.29 2-5. The tote took £16,985 against £25,734 last year, and for the meeting £36,349 against £53,012.

TAKAPUNA J.C. MEETING

AUCKLAND, December 1

The Taka,puna Jockey Club’s Spring meeting concluded in showery weather to-day. The track and attendance was good. The five shilling tote was again well patronised. The tote handled £25,586 15s, a decrease of £7,435 15s oil the amount invested for the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £62,103 10s, compared with £75,522 10s last year, a decrease of £13,419. After the Ralcino Handicap, an inquiry .was held into the running of Ammon Ra. The trainer, J. T. Jamieson, who also trained the winner, Chief Jewel, was informed that in future he was to give more definite instructions to riders and was censured for not having done so. The jockey, Ludlow, was censured for not riding Ammon Ra more vigorouslj r . Results:

Vauxlnill Handicap:—(l) Karangapai 1; (12) Merry Lu 2; 8) Valmarie 3. Won by | length. Time 1.29 4-5. Kawau Highweight:—(4) Luminary 1; (10) Patutahi 2; (2) Stonehenge 3. Won by a length and a-lialf. Time 1.30.

Vantley Handicap : (3) White Wings 1; (2) Royal Tea 2; (4) Paganelli 3. Won by three lengths. Time 1.13 4-5.

St. Andrew’s Handicap: —(3) Royal Doulton 1; (5) Mosque 2; (1) Eager Rose 3 Won by a neck. Time 1.54 2-s'.

Rakino Handicap:—(l) Chief Jewel 1; (3) Ammon Ra 2; (2) Princess Bede 3. Won by two lengths. Time 1.2.

Pupuke Hack Handicap:—(3) Mannwhenua, 1; (1) Clopton 2; (6) Sir Mond. Won by half a length. Time 1.56 2-5.
