WIN FOR HAINES. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, November, 30. At the Stadium, Jack Haines (11-4) defeated the Italian Emilio Beruasooni (L 1.6). The contest had an amusing ending. Haines shook the Italian in the seventh round with a blow to the solar plexus, dropping him to the boards. When about to rise to his feet, the Italian saw Haines approaching. and. throwing up his hands in sign of surrender, he slid through the ropes, and ran oil' to the dressing room, being pelted by a section of the crowd of four thousand with peanuts.
N.Z. FEATHER TITLE. DONOVAN BEATS J. LECKTE. NAPIER, November 30. On Saturday night, be!ore a packed house, Tommy Donovan (Waitara) defeated Johnny Leekie. (Napier), holder, on points, in a bout for the featherweight championship of New Zealand. It was a keen and close contest, the decision in favour of Donovan being a popular one. This was their third meeting as professionals. The first occasion on which they met, Leekie k.o.’d Donovan in the thirteenth round, and on the second occasion the decision was a draw.
