The Minister of Labour (Mr Baddeley) is conferring with the parties in the meat dispute on Monday to try and effect a settlement. Government later proceeded with plans for state control of metropolitan meat supply. AGENT GENERAL. SYDNEY", Nov. 20. The term of office of the Agent General, Sir George Poller, is expiring shortly. It is understood, Air A. C. Williu, vice-president of the Executive Council, will he Fulltr’s successor. FEDERAL. POLITICS. CANBERRA, Nov. 29. The Income Tax Assessment Bill, cabled last night, was amended in the House of Representatives to provide for exemption on incomes from property. Instead of disappearing on incomes of four hundred sterling and over, it will not now disappear till they reach £6OO. • . . : - The amendment was made in • response to pressure from/;'the Opposition. / // l. h "L.-iM . An amendment was also agreed to providing for the exemption of shareholders from the ; special^super tax, of la 6d in;the pound, chargeable on the property portion of the company s income, and imposed also on dividends from income, whereon a company lias already paid Super tax. These' concessions amount, to £650,000 sterling.. The Minister of Home . Affairs, Air Blakeley, announced tliat the Government approved of , art unions to provide relief for unemployment in Federal Capital Territory.
