N.S.W. WAGES TAX

RAISED TO Is IN JGI. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, November 28. The New South Wales Labour Caucus to-day approved of plans to impose a tax of ten per cent, on winning bets, and also to raise the wages tax, for unemployment, from threepence to one shilling in the pound. It is understood the betting tax will yield an annual revenue of two millions ,which is to be deducted by tiie bookmakers from the sums payable to their clients. A similar deduction is to be made from the fotalisator dividends. It is expected 'the shilling in the pound on salaries and wages will yield over six millions sterling, which with the Betting Tax, will make eight millions.
