RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28th. The Little Play Club, already very popular with ll’A listeners, is providing the whole of the programme for this evening. There will he original sketches written by Miss Marie Graudin; also vocal and instrumental solos. r l he artists appearing are Messrs Ed. Church house, .Jock Mackenzie, Lees Bullot, and Jack Wright, and Mrs Zoe, Bartley-Baxter and Miss Dorothea Ryan. The whole of the performance will be under the direction of Mrs Zoe Bartley-Baxter. The 2YA concert session will be devoted to a prorgamme of Operatic and miscellaneous numbers. Miss Myra Sawyer and Mr Wm. Boardman will be heard in solos and duets. Items of outstanding interest will bei the solos by Miss Belle Rcnaut, late of 3YA. Tenor solos will he snug by Mi iStewart Nelson and there will be elocutionary numbers by Mr W. J. Mountjov. The solo pianist will be Miss Edith Bait, who will play Saint iSaen’s “Danse Macabre.” Another item of interest will be a cello duet by Mr Claude Tanner and Miss Irene Lawson. Preceding a session of dance music at 3YA yvill bo a popular concert to which the contributing artists will be M'.iss Monica- O’Connell, A.T.C.L., Mrs C. J. Stow (mezzo contralto) late of Melbourne, Mr Sydney Armstrong, .(baritone), Noel Newson, (pianist), Mr Bert Good I and (humorous reciter), Mr Harold Beck (’cellist) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. Arensky. Chaminade and Tschaikowskv will be presented in 4YA’s items this evening as the Studio Trio will present four of the finest trios by these eminent musicians. The vocal section on this programme will be presented by broadcasting artists of outstanding merit-—Miss Gwenda Burt (contralto). Miss Dorothy Youd .(soprano!. Mr J. B. Hamiltom (tenor) and Mr J. Clark (bass). This evening will also see the first appearance of Mr Hunter, secretary of the Dunedin Shakespeare Club. This club is of acknowledged standing and members have stepped from its ranks on to the professional stage. Dir Hunter is one of the outstanding members in the club. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29th: During the afternoon from IYA there will be a relay of the results of the Takapuna Jockey Club’s meeting, interspersed with the selected gramophone records. As this is the eve of St. Andrew’s day, the whole of lYA’s programme will be devoted to Scottish' songs and humour. The Auckland District Highland Pipe Band will give several numbers that will warm the hearts of all Scots. The popular Scottish soprano, Miss Reta McCullay. will once again he- heard in several national ballads and the String Octet will play many numbers redolent of the land of the heather. 2YA will relay from the Concert Chamber, Wellington Town Hall, the Wellington Commercial Tranellen;’ and Warehousemen’s Association Male Voice Choir’s last concert of the season. The choir performs under the eonduetorship of Mr John Bishop and can be relied upon to give a concert of merit and interest.

The pine band of the Caledonian Society of Christchurch has been engaged for its St. Andrew’s Day Concert. The band plays under Pipe Major Chas. Gibson and a rare- treat will be provided for lovers of Highland music. Introduced into the programme will he recorded talk by the Rt. Hon. J. Ramsay Macdonld on “Robert Burns—a man amongst men.” The contralto, Mrs D. W. Stallard and

Mr Roht. Allison, will he singing favourite Scottish numbers, while Scottish humour of the Lauder type will be given by Air Jock Lockhart. This concert will'be relayed to 4YA.
