LATE LOCALS.

It is announced by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, that the camps which were to be held throughout the Dominion during the summer for the training of 600 officers and 2600 n.c.o.’s. of the Territorial Force have been postponed indefinitely.

Practically nothing is known about the porpoise whale, and only fifteen specimcnts have ever been recorded. None have ever been seen or taken alive. Fourteen of the recorded carcasses were on the New Zealand coasts, the remaining one being found at La Plata.
