SERIOUS FLOOD
IN OTAKI DISTRICT

OTAKI, Nov. 27
The biggest flood for many years occurred at one o’clock this morning. The river flooded the banks, drowned horses, cows and sheep, swept away three temporary bridges, damaged vegetable gardens, entered houses in the vicinity of Otnko railway, damaged the main road, undermined the railway line for chains. The river and streets are still flooded but the water is rapidly subsiding. OTAKI. Nov. 27.
Hie estimated damage will run into hundreds of pounds. The flood waters are now clown. A general survey of the position is being made. Confirmation of the rn'mours relating to losfc of stock cannot he obtained till the /parties return from the other side of the river.
